Are you feeling a discomfort, overwhelmed, out of balance, or a distance from your authentic self or others? Have you been struggling with a sense of emptiness, loss of vitality or pressure to meet everyone’s needs while losing sight of your own? With all the demands of today’s world, these feelings may present as a sudden distress or a lingering heaviness that feels never-ending. As your therapist, I am here to support you through challenging times while collaboratively summoning your own strengths and resources to fulfill the life that is authentic to you.
I work with individuals experiencing a variety of issues including anxiety, depression, and adjustment to life changes, with a special interest in supporting both formal and informal caregivers including health care workers of all settings. My own professional journey has included moving through multiple areas including long term care, acute care, rehabilitation, and community settings, allowing me to have a lived understanding of the pressures and particularities associated with each of these. With compassion, I welcome you in a non-judgmental space where we can define the issues at the core of your struggles, establishing the influence of your world on your circumstances. My commitment is to listen and hear your story, help you rediscover your passions and helpful ways of coping and to feel connected within your relationships including the one to yourself. I too have experienced loss, expectations for high performance, and influences from social messaging.
My approach is gentle, person centered, strength-based and seeks to address struggles in a non-pathologizing manner. Your past does not need to define you, your present situation need not be your future; let’s see how your story can be written in the words unique within your heart and mind, one day at a time.
My education includes a bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy with a current registration in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO). I am completing a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University and hold a registration with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) as a qualifying psychotherapist. I am currently completing my internship under the supervision of Meagan Cumming.
As a person, I was born and raised in Ottawa, and have enjoyed some travel in my life. I am a great lover of cheese (this gives away places I have travelled), am always trying out new teas, and love anything related to pets (although snakes are not my preference). If this resonates with you, I am present to connect and support you in your own goals and journey.
