Who This Is For

Couples counselling may be helpful if you are:

  • Dating, engaged, or married
  • Navigating parenting stress
  • Recovering from infidelity
  • Experiencing communication breakdown
  • Considering separation and seeking clarity
  • Wanting to strengthen an already stable relationship

You do not need to be in crisis to seek support. Many couples attend therapy proactively.

How We Can Help

Couples therapy creates a structured space to slow down what’s happening beneath the surface of conflict.

Rather than assigning blame, we focus on understanding patterns, triggers, and unmet needs.

In counselling, we help couples:

  • Improve communication
  • Reduce recurring conflict cycles
  • Rebuild trust
  • Strengthen emotional safety
  • Increase clarity and mutual understanding

Our clinicians draw from evidence-informed approaches, including the Gottman Method and attachment-based frameworks.

What You Can Expect

Your first session focuses on understanding the concerns that have brought you in and how conflict tends to unfold between you.

Each partner will have space to share their perspective. Together, we identify goals and begin mapping out a plan that supports both individuals and the relationship as a whole.

The aim is not to determine who is right, but to create greater understanding and healthier ways of relating.

FAQs

Couples counselling is a structured form of therapy that helps partners better understand their patterns of communication, conflict, and emotional connection. The goal is not to assign blame, but to strengthen understanding and create healthier ways of relating to one another.

Ideally, both partners are open to attending and engaging in the process. Even if one partner feels unsure at first, therapy can still be helpful as long as both are willing to participate respectfully and honestly.

No. The therapist’s role is not to take sides. Instead, they work to understand the dynamics between both partners and support the health of the relationship as a whole. Each person’s perspective is respected and explored.

Disagreements can happen in therapy, especially when emotions are high. Your therapist will help slow the conversation down and guide it in a way that feels safe and productive. The goal is not to escalate conflict, but to understand what is happening beneath it.

The length of counselling depends on your goals and the concerns you’re working through. Some couples attend for a focused period to address a specific issue, while others choose ongoing support to strengthen communication and connection over time.
